Résumé — 2026
Ritesh
Pakala

ML Engineer (iOS/Swift spec)
I build intelligent mobile experiences at the intersection of AI and craftsmanship. From computer vision at Polarr to AI prototyping at Apple, I bring products to life with Swift, SwiftUI, and on-device machine learning. Currently focused on decentralized AI, native platform engineering, and making interfaces feel effortless.

- Rewrote 24FPS video application from Swift/UIKit to SwiftUI, including Auth, Profile, and Video Filter Previews
- Led development of Search/Explore feature for filter discovery
- Developed animated transition previews with infinite grid of before/after filter previews
- Achieved stable 4K video exports on iPhone 6s and above
Jun 2018 — Jan 2021
iOS/ML Application Engineer
Polarr
Photo editing software with enterprise computer vision models. Built mobile AI features and represented the company at Samsung HQ.
- Independently designed and created Memoir app incorporating CoreML models for aesthetic ranking and auto-crop compositions
- Represented Polarr at Samsung HQ in Suwon, South Korea, delivering Machine Guided Composition for Samsung S10
- Demonstrated <6ms inferencing with SNPE model + custom OpenCV implementation
- Achieved <500ms 2x upscaling (1080p → 2160p) on iPhone X
- Collaborated with research scientists on functional prototypes using CoreML models
Aug 2016 — Apr 2018
Founder
Aesthete Collective Inc.
Seed-funded e-commerce startup. Developed a robust storefront and led the design and production of a complete menswear collection.
- Developed e-commerce storefront with Express/Node/EJS, Firebase, and AWS EC2 hosting
- Integrated Shopify for SKU management and payments
- Led design and production of a complete menswear collection from inception
Dec 2015 — Feb 2016
Researcher
Physical Research Laboratories — ISRO
Used SciKit/Python to process hi-res moon surface images and identify optimal landing zones.
- Created a novel process to identify optimal lunar landing zones using purely optical data
- Mapped locations and size of craters without elevation data
Projects
Selected work
- Deepfake Detection2026
Obscur↗
An on-device app that tells what's real from what's rendered. Scores every image patch-by-patch for the tell-tale statistics of generation, confirms a genuine camera-capture signature, then signs authentic work to a provenance ledger to protect your creative rights.
SwiftSwiftUIMLXMetal - Decentralized AI2025
Seer
A decentralized ecosystem where you own your AI models, your insights, and your collaborations. An alternative to extractive AI — built on privacy-first principles with royalty tracking for every contribution.
SwiftSwiftUIMistralCoreML - Fediverse Social2024
Loom↗
An open-source social application integrating Lemmy, Mastodon, and RSS feeds into a singular Threads-like experience. Features account systems, on-device CoreML safety, and real-time re-theming. Scaled to 150 TestFlight users.
SwiftSwiftUICoreMLGranite - Paper Trading2023
Stoic↗
A comprehensive stock application for creating trading strategies and paper-trading with Yahoo Finance APIs. Trains on-device SVM models for next-day predictions, identifying percent change with a 5% error rate.
SwiftSwiftUICoreMLYahoo Finance API - macOS LLM Tool2024
Nea↗
A macOS LLM chat application with Spotlight-search access flow for prompt management and local model inference. Detects unique artifacts in outputs to display helpful UI components for different perspectives.
SwiftAppKitLLMmacOS - AI Photo Curation2020
Memoir↗
Independently designed at Polarr, incorporating in-house CoreML models like Aesthetic Ranking and Machine Guided Composition to detect aesthetics and auto-crop compositions from a user's camera roll.
